My child has been complaining about an itchy head for the past two days.
Today after further investigation, we found that she in fact has head lice!
Should she be kept out of school until the problem is dealt with?
Should we notify the school?

0The responsible thing to do is keep her out of school until you have treated your child's hair.
Treat her hair with lice treatment, there are a few good ones available, ask you pharmacists about the best one to use on children.
Also go through the painstaking (but very worthwhile) task of combing each strand with a special comb to make sure you get rid of all the nits. As most shampoos kill lice, but not nits. The nits only hatch within 3 days.
Most treatments require a follow-up treatment within 5-7 days.
It may be a mammoth task but very important wash all bedding, brushes, hair accessories and anything else that may come into contact with hair in hot water.
Lice can;t jump so it can only be spread with things it comes into contact with, so don't forget clean all counter surfaces.
Teach your kids not to share brushes at school, and try to encourage other parents that they too should be responsible and check their kids for lice at least once a week.
