Bedford Court, the house designed by Sir Herbert Baker and once home to the mining magnate, Sir George Farrar is a national monument. Home to 780 girls, the school is a deeply caring community providing a haven of security and love. Importantly, St Andrew’s offers a wealth of opportunities for busy, bright girls to achieve their full potential.

Education is a window to the world and for this reason our approach(from Grade 0 to Grade 12) is a holistic one. Our academic programme is challenging and imaginative, designed to foster intellectual curiosity and a lifelong love of learning. It is essential that all in our charge are equipped to take on the challenges of change and progress.

Executive Head, Mrs Pauline Jackson

The Independent Examinations Board Matriculation is written each year and our pupils consistently achieve excellent results. The majority of our students continue with tertiary education in South Africa or abroad. St Andrew’s strength lies in its staff/pupil ratio, with classes rarely exceeding 27 girls. Importance is placed on each learner as an individual and on that individual’s personal development.

We keep within current international trends by teaching life skills, which are of paramount importance. The traditional Prefect system has been abolished and we strive to empower each pupil, based on the values of respect, trust, integrity and responsibility. Each senior girl serves on a task team during her final year at St Andrew’s.

The school offers a wide variety of cultural and sporting activities, catering for the interests of all learners. Sport is a vital facet of daily life at the school and we offer: swimming, diving, rowing, golf, hockey, netball, athletics, tennis and squash.  The school also has a very successful equestrian team.

Our Frank Simmonds Resource Centre ensures that each pupil has access to the latest multimedia technology.

As a Christian school, St Andrew’s believes in the need to care, and this spirit is nowhere better illustrated than in our dynamic Outreach facility, Ubambiswano, which assists in the development of both staff and pupils from various schools in Daveyton and Etwatwa.  All girls are required to attend Chapel services, which are interdenominational.

We invite prospective families to make an appointment to visit our school to experience the happy, relaxed environment in which our students thrive.
