We only accept 20 children in our classes so that we are able to maintain the standard of love and care we provide at our school. Collectively our staff has 130 years of teaching experience, each bringing their own dynamic approach to the teaching field.

Here are some other points on what makes our school special:

• We run on the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum. Farhat our Educational Specialist is implementing the curriculum at all the Junior College branches. We are very proud to have her form part of our team.
• The Early Years Foundation Stage is broken down into 6 key areas of a child’s development, namely Communication, Language and Literacy; Problem Solving, Reasoning and Numeracy; Physical Development; Personal, Social and Emotional Development; Knowledge and Understanding of the World and Creative Development.
• Everyday your child will be exposed to every one of these areas of development.
• We provide balanced meals for the children. Breakfast, morning snack, lunch and an afternoon snack are all included in the monthly fee.
• We follow government school terms and provide holiday care during the school holidays at no extra charge. Primary school children are welcomed during school holidays.
• All our staff are qualified in First Aid and CPR. From the Security Guard to the Cleaner, EVERYONE.
• Immunisations are done on site, by the Ridge Terrace Pharmacy.
• We are very fortunate to have an Interactive Whiteboard (Smart Board) installed at our school. This is a phenomenal teaching tool that allows us to provide your children access to cutting edge technology.
• Numicon is a mathematics programme that ADvTECH has implemented through out Junior Colleges.
• Implemented at our school is the gross motor programme developed by the Institute of Neuro-Physiological Psychology. This programme was developed to improve children’s gross motor development with the aim of improving school readiness.
• The THRASS (Teaching Handwriting Reading and Spelling Skills) Reading and Writing programme is implemented at our school.
• Our school only closes from roughly the 15th of December to the 6th of January every year. We also have holiday club for primary school children up to the age of 10.
• We, at Junior Colleges Fourways aim to provide each parent with the peace of mind in knowing that your child and all his/her needs are met from the minute they arrive at school.

Most of what I really need to know about how to live, and what to do, and how to be, I learned in nursery school. Wisdom was not at the top the graduate school mountain, but there in the sand box at nursery school.

These are the things I learned. Share everything. Play fair. Don’t hit people. Put things back where you found them. Clean up your own mess. Don’t take things that aren’t yours. Say you are sorry when you hurt somebody. Wash your hands before you eat. Flush. Warm cookies and cold milk are good for you. Live a balanced life. Learn some and think some and draw some and paint and sing and dance and play and work everyday.
